Possible New Signings

With only 3 days to go before the end of the transfer window the market has been very quiet which just goes to show what a bad idea the transfer window is. In previous years there has been a lot of activity on the last day so Wednesday could be interesting, although as most teams have a Premiership or Carling Cup game on that evening this could prove to be too much of a distraction to sign a new player. The problem is that from Wednesday you cannot bring in any reinforcements even if half your team get long term injuries and are unable to play again for the season.

Villa have been linked with a couple of players although I think its unlikely they will go through. We are still being linked with a move for Shawn Wright-Phillips who was said to be considering a loan move to kick start his Chelsea career, but he instead decided he wanted to stay at Chelsea and fight for his place. Another player linked with Villa on loan is Alan Smith from Manchester United. Smith has been injured for a long time , nearly 11 months in all, after breaking his leg in the Carling Cup but is just getting back to full fitness and has apparently ruled out a loan move as he hopes to prove himself to Sir Alex Ferguson at United.

There have been a couple of rumours reagrding players leaving the club with Lee Hendrie still expected to leave either on loan to Stoke or to as a Robbie Savage replacement at Blackburn. JLloyd Samuel has also been linked with a move to Bolton although there are other clubs said to be interested in signing the left back.
